Media Development for VWTV website

For my website i needed to create media elements to make my website complete and look professional. This mainly consisted of sound and movies and how I incorporated them in my website.

I created my website using iWeb, a software for Apple Macs. Once I had an idea of what I wanted my site to look like I set out picking images that I would like to feature on my site. After selecting a range of images i set out researching fonts and drawing with basic shapes and create a template for my site.

Once the shapes came together I added small effects such as shadows on the shapes to divide the page and create seperate columns. I also added text which I had previously typed up ready to be inserted. Once the template is created and there is a shape to the website it is fairly simple, just drag and drop relevent sources into the correct positions. This sometimes needs cropping and other forms of editing that can be time consuming.

Creating the movie

For my website I created a short movie which acts as a teaser trailer for the TV channel launch. I created the movie on iMovie and all footage, video and audio is taken or created by myself to prevent breaking any copyright laws.

When iMovie is first opened the footage that is on your computer appears in the bottem half of the software. You then select the footage you want and drag the ammount you want into the top grid, it can then be cropped to the correct size and text can be added over the top of the video.

Once I selected bits of footage i wanted at that time, i then decided to search different sounds that i have created and edited and looked for relevant material. Sound can totally transform a video and gives energy to the web page. I decided to include a sound of a car accelerating and then an upbeat jingle to match the pace f the video.

Finally to give the movie a profeesional touch, I added transitions between each piece of footage. Mainly using dissolve transitions but also opted to use a cube effect when the title screen merges into the video. This creates a flowing effect and gives the video rhythm.

Newspaper Advert- Drafts

1st Draft

2nd Draft

Final Draft

Final draft of my newspaper advert, which would be advertised in The Sun on a Friday in Quentin Wilson's double page spread.

Double Page Spread

This is my First draft for my double page spread feature. When you view my drafts, i hope that you see progress and development in each differnent area.

My second draft is similar to my final draft. I feel this is at a good standard but little tweaks have helped my page look professional and appropriate.

This is my cover for TVG, the TV guide that my TV channel has a double page spread feature in. I have made a cover to set the scene for the article and to set a house style so my article looks in place in this modern TV guide.

You are viewing my third and most recent draft for my double page spread feature for VWTV. All comments appreciated.
